Hustlers made it 5 wins in a row and 6 in succession at home as they squeaked to a narrow victory against Old Golds. Coincidentally the 2 pin margin was the same as they had lost to Old Golds in the earlier encounter.
First leg got Hustlers off to a shaky start. Trying to match Old Golds on a cold alley, the leg finished with Hustlers 9 down.
The next three fared a bit better. Led by Pete with 40 and with a late spare by Brian to finish with 42, Hustlers matched the opposition and at the halfway stage the difference between the two teams stayed on 9 pins.
Although third leg’s scores were unremarkable in themselves, the Hustlers trio changed the course of the game, beating Old Golds’ leg by 8 pins and enabling Hustlers to go into last leg only one pin down.
Last leg proved to be up to the challenge. Neither Neil not Rob required spares to reach their 40s and this proved enough to shade Old Golds by 3 pins and win the match by 2.
