Hustlers contrived to lose a match they were in a position of winning when they played fourth-placed Telehoist at the Suffolk.First leg did what first leg usually does – which is to ship pins – and only Lofty, with a creditable 42, managed to keep the score to a manageable 15 pin deficit.
The second leg was kept afloat by Rob with a superb aerial bombardment for his 47. This slightly more than covered the small deficit run up by his fellow skittlers and Hustlers gained some slight ground of 2 pins.
Both teams’ third legs were fairly equally matched with Chris managing a 40, but Hustlers lost the two pins gained by second leg.
Telehoist’s fourth leg was not setting a great pace and Hustlers had opportunities to gain on every hand. Alas, Steve and Neil were misfiring and the sight of Neil’s beaver on the penultimate hand was enough to stimulate Telehoist into producing enough to stay ahead at the climax of the game.
It’s the Adam and Eve next week.
