Actually it was only 20 but some fake news to make the title work was no more contrived than the way Hustlers maintained the reputation of Fortress Suffolk.
First leg was a close run thing with no-one shining on either side, and the leg meandered to a relative stalemate with Hustlers just 3 pins down.
Second leg would have been a much better affair if each player had not suffered from one bad hand (actually Swayner had two but made up for it with his other scores). With five of the Fir Trees’ first six players scoring 34 and the other player scoring 33, Hustlers slowly drew away and won the leg by 9 pins.
Third leg, aided by some brilliant sticking by Pete and Andy, put on the afterburners and both Steve and Rich contributed spares towards a further gain of 11 pins. Steve and Ant both scored in the 40s and this gave last leg an important cushion of 17.
Fourth leg stuttered but, steadied by Gary with 42 and a 12 which spared Neil’s blushes, the leg eventually gained three more pins on Fir Trees, resulting in a Hustlers victory and the relative safety of mid-table obscurity.
