In a devastating display at the United Services Club, Hustlers performed the double over top of the table Cannonballs.
The result was effectively decided by a stunning first leg that ensured Cannonballs were never seriously in the game after that. A magnificent 52 by Captain Neilson, which included a 14 spare, backed up by 41 from Clive, pushed Hustlers in front by 23 pins.
This performance was built on by second leg, led by Peter K with 43 and only Andy, matched up as usual to Cannonballs’ best player, lost pins. Hustlers drew further ahead by an additional 7 pins.
Third leg now had a 30 pin cushion. Although it proved the lowest leg of the night, Chatz and Swayner matched their opponents and Dave lost only 5 pins, leaving Cannonballs with 25 pins to make up on last leg.
A strong Hustlers last leg set to their task and did not disappoint. Ant made 44 and Gary 41 in a total which matched Hustlers’ first leg. It all proved too much for Cannonballs who lost a further 10 pins, enabling Hustlers to run out with an easy 35 pin victory.
