Hustlers were knocked off their all-too-temporary perch at the top of the table with a defeat to an Allsports team which had too much firepower on their last leg.Hustlers’ first three players were greeted with new sticky balls which suited Lewis (47 without a spare), but Lloyd struggled and Andy’s fairly respectable 38 was overshadowed by his opponent’s 49. The outcome was a shortfall of 13 pins.
Second leg tried hard with some consistent scoring and in fact (just) ended up as our highest leg, but the best they could manage was a tie with the opposition, leaving Hustlers still trailing by 13.
Third leg was notable in that it was Hustlers’ lowest leg of the night and yet pulled pins – 8 of them in fact, which reduced the deficit to a mere 5 pins.
It was therefore left to last leg to do the biz. Unfortunately Allsports’ last three were as good as their first, and a 50 by Clive’s opponent left him with a personal 16 pin deficit, Hustlers ending up second best by 20 pins.
