It was a game of two halves at a totally revamped Adam & Eve as Hustlers were outclassed on the first two legs and only showed their best, albeit too little too late, in the second half.
The first leg was an eye-opener for those who thought the alley was going to be as benign as it was in the past. Pete, Andy and Marty all suffered from large balls as they went down by 26 pins.
Second leg followed the same pattern (and the same score on the leg), only Clive managing to stem the rot. A further 28 pins went onto the debit side, leaving the rest of the team to reduce a gap of 54.
Third leg was much more impressive. Both Steve and Ant scored spares, finishing with 50 and 45 respectively, and Chatz provided excellent support with a 39 spoilt only by a 4 on his last hand. Unfortunately Kingfishers proved up tp the challenge and Hustlers finished only 4 pins to the good.
Last leg had it all to do, but a first hand of 25 which included a spare by Neil showed that the 50 deficit was not impossible to overcome. Alas, the leg slightly ran out of steam and, although all three players broke 40, Kingfishers easily hung on and Hustlers went down to a defeat of 40 pins.
